The Perfect Gift Idea for Grandchildren:

The perfect gift idea for grandparents to give their grandchildren isn’t that hard to figure out!  Depending on the age of the grandchild, the perfect gift idea is usually the same: have some dedicated time to spend with your grandson or granddaughter.

-with a newborn baby: the only thing they really need is love. For grandma and grandpa to simply sit and hold and watch the face of a newborn baby is enough.  The little hands, the gentle baby sounds, the soft skin are gift enough – and a great bonding time.  A picture of this magical time will be treasured for years to come – for grandparents or grandchild!

-with a one year old: the perfect gift grandparents can give may well be a little floor time – with the grandchild, of course! A one year old is so curious and active and there is no better way to understand and enjoy a one-year old’s actions than to get on the floor and be a participant.

Grandma Memories –“Do You Love It?”

I hope every grandma cherishes her grandma memories like I do.  I keep a note pad of the cutest things our first grandson is saying, or doing.  And it’s a laugh out loud (LOL) moment when I go back and reread those special grandma memories.

Our 20 month old has been giving us the thumbs up on his favorite things that he loves for 8 months now.  When he really likes something, he squeezes his fists and gives us the biggest grin possible to communicate, “I love it” and then he holds that pose to reinforce the “love”.   So with a new treat, or a new activity, we’re always asking, “Do you love it?”  And I can tell you he loves pizza, little friends around his own age, popsicles, and flowers.  These are a few of his favorite things!

How to Find the Perfect Newborn Baby Gift

Grand Expression
The occasion of a newborn baby calls for a gift that is special and memorable.  Have you ever been to a baby shower with a gift you thought was that unique and special gift, only to find that someone else came with the same or similar gift?  Did you wish you had shopped a boutique store rather than a national chain store – but who has the time!
Here are 5 tips to help you select the perfect newborn baby gift with a really special and unique gift:

Newborn Baby Gifts are Just Fun!

Mrs. Sock Octopus, Socks, plush & rattle | Grand Expression
Shopping for a newborn baby gift can and should be one of the funnest adventures ever! Who doesn't like picking up a fuzzy, pink or blue baby blanket and then just melt when you feel how super soft it really is! Or when you see the funniest little pacifier holder that makes keeping the baby's pacifier from hiding under a blanket, pillow or car seat a whole lot easier.

These are my mindless rambles about some of the fun I hope you have when you're out looking for a baby gift for that baby shower or unique newborn baby gift idea.

Traditional pink and blue baby gifts - you have to love the fact that your newborn baby will be a baby girl or a baby boy. That has meant for years pastel pink or baby blue. Everyone's doing all kinds of fun baby room decorating and the colors can be so charming. But remember the traditional blue and pink - they send a special sentimental feeling of baby love.

Smile! This will be a Grandma Picture

A picture of Mommy and Daddy (of course), new Aunt, baby cousin, Grandpa and a picture of Grandma.  This was the list of up-close face pictures I took to fill a sweet, soft vinyl book I sent to our son and daughter-in-law even before little Asher was born.  I learned very clearly the impact of a loved one’s picture for a new baby with our first grandson, Seth.

Our first grandson got to meet his daddy at age two weeks, for a two week leave from a mountain top in Afghanistan where he served in the US Army.  He had his second introduction to his daddy at nine months.  A lot had changed in those many months of growing: from sleeping much of the day, to rolling over, making those adorable baby sounds, to eating his first cereal, to sitting up in his bath, through several sizes of diapers and through many pictures to mark the growth and the special moments of those first months.

Grandma or Angel

"If you don’t believe in angels, you haven’t met my grandma!"  I have always believed in angels, in fact, I think I have one sitting by my side right now.  But when I saw this message , it made me want to cry.  Grandmas sometimes act a lot like I think angels would act.  Grandmas aren’t upfront and on center stage.  Grandmas aren’t looking for a lot of acknowledgement.  They’re always close at hand (whether on the phone, living nearby or through Skyping (which grandmas are doing more and more of!)).  A grandchild always knows where they stand with grandma – she loves them no matter what.   It’s good to turn to grandma when there’s a boo-boo.  When grandma tucks you in for the night, they feel soft and yet strong.   A grandma never seems to get enough of her grandson or granddaughter.  A grandma doesn’t need to say a lot, but you know they love you.

I Held My First Grandchild

Before our daughter was out of recovery for an emergency C- Section, after 16 hours of labor, they brought Seth David up to the room we were in.  After we watched them suds him up and wash him from head to foot, they wrapped him in a little blue blanket and asked who wants him?  My husband quickly snatched that little bundle.  And then I finally got to hold my first grandchild.  He was smaller than you ever remember a new baby to be and more pink, but his eyes shone as he seemed to look at us with those dark brown, bright eyes.    A first grandchild is such a planned for and scheduled event in many ways, but what a surprise!   To hold that first grandbaby will be a memory always cherished.
