The perfect gift idea
for grandparents to give their grandchildren
isn’t that hard to figure out! Depending
on the age of the grandchild, the perfect gift idea is usually the same: have
some dedicated time to spend with your grandson or granddaughter.
-with a newborn baby: the only thing they really need is
love. For grandma and grandpa to simply sit and hold and watch the face of a
newborn baby is enough. The little
hands, the gentle baby sounds, the soft skin are gift enough – and a great
bonding time. A picture of this magical
time will be treasured for years to come – for grandparents or grandchild!
-with a one year old: the perfect gift grandparents can give
may well be a little floor time – with the grandchild, of course! A one year
old is so curious and active and there is no better way to understand and enjoy
a one-year old’s actions than to get on the floor and be a participant.
-once a child is walking, take them for a walk! What an
achievement for the little one and how fun and safe to practice with grandma or
grandpa. All I have to do is say “walk”
and “hand” and there’s no turning back.
A walk hand-in-hand is still my favorite thing to do with my grandsons.
-eighteen months is a fun and exhausting age for child and
grandparent. You have to be prepared to
run anywhere a toddler wants to go, climb, giggle, try out new words and great
new food (as teeth are in and functioning pretty well at this point!). A designated time for quiet time together is
a good thing for both parties involved.
A quiet book before bedtime is a special time with child and adult
alike. Add in a bath and a sweet pair of
pajamas (just because they won’t let you choose the jammies for too much
longer!) and a warm and snuggly baby before bed.
Time, together seems to be the important things in life for
me with my gandbabies. Following are some fun gift ideas
that make a great gift for a grandchild
or for grandparents.
1)
Take pictures of baby and grandparents together–
a gift of memories will last and last for everyone.
2)
Remind child and grandparent of each visit with
a new book or a new little gift that can be talked about after the visit is
over. (“Remember when we threw the purple ball
outside ….”)
3)
Children’s books make such a great gift for both
child and for grandparents when they share quiet times together reading.
