Grandma's Know the Power of Swaddling a Baby

Ladyabug Swaddling Blanket

When our daughter was pregnant and I was feeling rusty in handling crying babies, my daughter invited me to a class on newborn baby care with her.  It was good to hear the medical techniques that are now known and shared with these new moms, rather than trial and error as in another time and place.  I was entranced by a video on swaddling  a baby by "The Happiest Baby on the Block" people.  They took a crying, fussing baby ( I mean really fussing!) and calmed it like magic.  Maybe this is just what Grandma's have always known about the power of swaddling a baby!

Personalized Baby Gifts - How Special is That?

Personalized baby gifts have become my new favorite baby gift of all time!  I love the different thought processes new parents go through these days in thinking about the name for their new baby - so why not turn that into the most perfect baby gift ever!  Think about how new parents around you are approaching the name of their new baby.  Are they blending  two family names, naming the baby in honor of a special person, naming the baby after a favorite song or TV character, or making up a name that will be truly one-of-a-kind?  Why not use the fun of the new baby's name to be the perfect baby gift for their newborn baby!

It's All in a Name - A Baby Name That Is!

Baby Name Gifts are Special
Did you share the name you picked out for your first, second, third or fourth baby with anyone?  A baby name is something that will stay with that newborn baby their whole lives.  When thinking of a baby name, did you use a fmaily name, the name of someone that made a big difference in your life, or something you heard in a song?  The names these days seem to get more and more creative.  I still love Charlie, Sarah, Rebekah and Christopher, but I'm intrigued with how much people think about, haggle over, dream about, pray for, and negotiate over the name of a new baby for many months before they even arrive!

Grandparents Loving Grandchildren - Could this be You?

Grandparents Loving Grandchildren
Grandparents love their Grandchildren!  Maybe you’ve been as excited about a new grandson or granddaughter as I was and did things that would surprise you now.  Lots of grandparents are going the extra mile for their grandchildren – from taking that extra trip to visit, spending the extra time holding a baby, or taking more pictures than you have in years!  I found these numbers showing some statistics of grandparents loving their grandchildren interesting:

Baby Boutique Shopping …

Yes, shopping for three days for the best, most adorable, cutest, highest quality, memorable, and, oh yeah, affordable children and baby boutique gifts can be exhausting!  I know shopping can be a girl’s best friend, but not this girl – at least until now!

The Perfect Gift Idea for Grandchildren:

The perfect gift idea for grandparents to give their grandchildren isn’t that hard to figure out!  Depending on the age of the grandchild, the perfect gift idea is usually the same: have some dedicated time to spend with your grandson or granddaughter.

-with a newborn baby: the only thing they really need is love. For grandma and grandpa to simply sit and hold and watch the face of a newborn baby is enough.  The little hands, the gentle baby sounds, the soft skin are gift enough – and a great bonding time.  A picture of this magical time will be treasured for years to come – for grandparents or grandchild!

-with a one year old: the perfect gift grandparents can give may well be a little floor time – with the grandchild, of course! A one year old is so curious and active and there is no better way to understand and enjoy a one-year old’s actions than to get on the floor and be a participant.

Grandma Memories –“Do You Love It?”

I hope every grandma cherishes her grandma memories like I do.  I keep a note pad of the cutest things our first grandson is saying, or doing.  And it’s a laugh out loud (LOL) moment when I go back and reread those special grandma memories.

Our 20 month old has been giving us the thumbs up on his favorite things that he loves for 8 months now.  When he really likes something, he squeezes his fists and gives us the biggest grin possible to communicate, “I love it” and then he holds that pose to reinforce the “love”.   So with a new treat, or a new activity, we’re always asking, “Do you love it?”  And I can tell you he loves pizza, little friends around his own age, popsicles, and flowers.  These are a few of his favorite things!
